Fath Abad: The Dreamiest Persian Garden
The half ruined building that was a historical but forgotten place over one and half year ago has turned into one of the most beautiful Persian gardens after some months from starting reconstruction. It is now going to be globally registered as a national heritage.
The Fath Abad Garden originally known as “Biglar-Baigi Garden” was the subject of reports of different media around one and half years ago. This historical garden is one of the oldest gardens of Iran. It was a reigning center for one of the Kerman rulers but was gradually forgotten to turn into ruins. In the past, this place merely acted as a shelter for addicts and rabbles. Up to one and half year ago, the people in the region frequently communicated their complaints about this half-ruined building which was once an outstanding building. Despite of high sensitivity of media to provide protection of this garden, no measure had been done to reconstruct it up to one and half year ago. After Kerman Governor visited the garden and issued a special order to reconstruct it, the first fundamental step to reconstruct Fath Abad Garden was taken and after a while, it was completely reconstructed. In the past Monday morning, the garden was reopened for public visitation so as to substitute a beautiful garden for the remaining ruins of a historical building.
Fath Abad Garden, also known as “Biglar-Baigi Garden”, was a beautiful garden constructed by Fazl Ali Khan Biglar Baigi who was a ruler in Kerman. It dates back to 1876. The aqueduct water passing in the middle of this luxurious garden, four-season buildings, central building and fortifications made the garden a beautiful and entertaining place.
A large pool with 60 x 5 m2 dimension was built inside the whole building and the trees covered the two sides of the garden so that the two-storey building close to the pool, located at the center of the building, granted a beautiful view to the garden. But the gradual drying of the adequate led to loss of the garden trees. After all, one of Mahan rulers made Mahan Prince Garden by adopting the plan of Fath Abad Garden. The Mahan Prince Garden is now internationally registered as a national heritage. But a bitter fate was waiting for Fath Abad Garden. The green space around the garden wad lost due to drying of aqueduct and the adjacent lands of the garden turned into farmlands, especially pistachio-tree lands. This was followed by turning the main edifices into ruins. Fortunately, the official arrangements and execution of reconstruction operation of Fath Abad Garden turned it into the most beautiful gardens of Iran which surprises its visitors and represents a part of Kerman City history. It is a building which went from an earthly heaven into forgotten ruins and then restored its initial grandeur. Now it is regarded as the most beautiful and the dreamiest Persian gardens.
