Feature of natural resources of Kerman province
Kerman is the most extensive province of Iran, and is rich in historical heritage and diversity in topography, climate and culture and
has potentials for invest in solar energy, mines, agricultural product conversion industry, tourism and industrial and pharmaceutical plants.
Kerman has 18.2 million Ha area which is divided between two NRW Offices (North & South of province). The north part area is 13.8 million hectare include: 7.32% of forests, 44.93% of rangelands, and 44.93% of deserts, with 140mm of average rainfall in a wide ranges between 30mm (in Shahdad & Rigan) to 320mm (in Laleh Zar).

Another potential of the province is height, 300m (in Loot Playa) up to 4465m (in Hezar mount pick) that can provide a remarkable biodiversity.
Although there are some limitations such as lack of conclusive regulations and educational programs in national resources management, having these potentials put Kerman in the top of the list of ecotourism projects targets.
Kerman has nearly 335 sunny days in year (in Rigan, Shahdad, Fahraj, Bam, Ravar, etc) witch suitable for invest in solar energy such as solar power plants, photocells, photovoltaic, and wind-solar towers that is a very new technology.
Natural and geomorphic sites with beautiful landscapes such as sand dunes, Kaloots (that are geomorphic features from water and wind erosion), Nebka (that is desert vase), Gandom berian (that is a great basaltic surface) and seasonal deep river beds with depth to 70m (Givdari River) and many other sites which can absorb scientific and general tourists.
In addition of natural privileges, by participating in UNCCD (United Nations Convention of Combating of Desertification) SLFM (Sustainable Land and Forest Management) projects, government of Islamic Republic of Iran is about to up to date it›s approaches and rules, that may facilitate investment in ecotourism projects, agricultural and industrial activities by natives and foreigners.
Also NRW offices applied many projects in different sites to protect and rehabilitate vegetation cover and soil erosion control, such as run off control projects, plantations, range management, seedlings, depositor traps for wind erosion, (depositor channels) and so on. These projects will protect economical, industrial and agricultural projects and activities from natural disasters such as sand storms.
